Springwater Conservation Area

The Springwater Conservation Area begins taking reservations for camping on May 1st.  Please phone the CCCA Administration Centre on weekdays from 9:00-4:00.

The Gatehouse/Store is open weekends in May and June, and 7 days a week in July & August.

A full service campground, day use facilities,
hiking trails, year-round special events, and facility rentals there is something for everyone at Springwater Conservation Area.


Seasonal Camping
Open from Mother’s Day Weekend to Thanksgiving Day Weekend. On-site winter storage and sewage pumping service available. The Friends of Springwater camper’s association organize activities throughout the summer.

Overnight Camping
Open from Victoria Day Weekend to Thanksgiving Day Weekend. There are 182 sites serviced with hydro and water and 82 non-serviced sites. Convenient washrooms, shower, and laundry facilities. Staff assisted children’s activities during the summer. The Group Camping Areas are excellent for Guide, Scout and other youth group camp-outs
Overnight Camping

Day Use Area
Offers 100 metres of sandy beach with ample swimming area, a 14 acre stocked pond, fishing platforms, and a non-motorized boat launch. There are canoe and paddle boat rentals, a children’s playground, concession booth, baseball diamond, and two comfort stations.

A Vehicle Day Pass is required for entry
* available on weekends at the Day Use Entrance, or
weekdays at the Main Gatehouse/Store


 

Springwater Schoolhouse
The schoolhouse was built in 1885 and comfortably holds up to 40 people. It is suitable for weddings, meetings, parties, picnics, and reunions. Barrier free access. Great base location for group camping.
                                                                                                      
Pavilions
Two serviced pavilions open for use from May to October. Reservations recommended. Great base location for group camping.

Gatehouse/Store
Registration, payments, canoe and pedal boat rentals.
Sales of firewood, drinks, snacks, ice cream, & various dry goods.

July and August

Sunday to Thursday 9:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m.
Fridays & Saturdays 9:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m.

September-October
Friday nights until 9:00 p.m.;
Saturday, Sunday, and Thanksgiving Day 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

Springwater Forest
With 150 hectares (370 acres) of mature Carolinian Forest and over 8 km of trails, including a wheelchair accessible trail, it is the home of such rare bird species as the Hooded Warbler, the Tufted Titmouse and the Pileated Woodpecker.

Millpond Trail
This trail within the Springwater Conservation Area West Campground winds along a freshwater marsh, over an earthen dam, and past a variety of Carolinian plant and animal communities.
Waterlily Trail

Arboretum
A well marked 1.5 km trail begins at the Springwater Schoolhouse in the Springwater Conservation Area and leads you past rare Carolinian Canada species such as the American Sweet Chestnut, Paw, Paw, White Mulberry, Blue Ash, Heart Nut, Sassafras, and Tulip Tree.
