FAMILY DAY SNOWSHOE EVENT
The Catfish Creek Conservation Authority welcomes friends and family to come try out snowshoeing, one of the oldest forms of winter travel! Ranger Em will be on hand to teach you all you will need to know to enjoy an afternoon of fun at Springwater. Learn about the history of snowshoeing, the different styles, and most of all enjoy a quick outdoor lesson. Wear low or no healed winter boots and dress for the weather! Springwater Conservation Area offers 8 kilometers of trail through a beautiful Carolinian forest, to snowshoe.
This event is weather permitting, therefore when conditions are suitable – a base of at least 10 cm (4 inches) of snow and no ice, the event will continue.
Please follow our social media sites (listed at the bottom) for day-of updates.
Staff here at the Catfish Creek Conservation Authority understands the importance of spending a day with loved ones, especially in nature. Therefore, when you arrive at Springwater Conservation Area, we are waiving the snowshoe rental fees. We still ask each participant to pay the $3 trail donation fee for future trail maintenance.
Staff will request to hold your driver’s license as a deposit for the snowshoes. All snowshoes must be returned to the Sugar Shanty by 4:30 p.m. and cannot leave the park. We have many different sizes of snowshoes that range in size for weights from 50 lbs., through to adult sizes of 260 lbs. There is a limited number available so come early to avoid disappointment. Visitors are welcome to bring their own snowshoes or cross country skis to enjoy exploring the world of nature!
Springwater Conservation Area is located at 8079 Springwater Road, Aylmer, Ontario. Meet Ranger Em in the Sugar Shanty!
