This is a WATERSHED CONDITIONS STATEMENT that static Lake Erie water levels are very high. Flooding in low-lying areas along the Lake Erie shoreline are probable.
Effective immediately, the Catfish Creek Conservation Authority (CCCA) is issuing a Watershed Condition Statement for the shoreline of Lake Erie within CCCA’s jurisdictional boundary.
Issued 10:30 AM EDT 04 May 2018 by Government of Canada Marine Weather
Today Tonight and Saturday. Gale warning in effect. Wind southwest 25 knots increasing to west 35 near noon then diminishing to west 25 early this evening. Wind diminishing to west 15 this evening and to light late overnight. Wind light Saturday. Waves 2 metres subsiding to one half metre or less this evening and to less than one half metre early Saturday morning. A few showers today with a risk of thunderstorms. A few showers after midnight. Fog patches dissipating near noon.
Residents are asked to closely watch local conditions and take appropriate responsible action, and are urged to use caution and stay away from Lake Erie shoreline areas experiencing strong wave action and elevated water levels. Parents are reminded to keep children and pets away from these areas.
Municipal flood coordinators are asked to monitor road conditions along the lakeshore.
Lake Erie water levels are expected to remain high over the coming months. High water levels increase the risk of flooding when moderate to severe wind driven storm surge events are occurring.
This Watershed Condition Statement is in effect until noon, Sunday May 6, 2018.
This is a reminder to be diligent, and watch local weather conditions and to take appropriate action when circumstances require.
CCCA continues to monitor watershed conditions and will issue updates and recommendations when or if necessary. CCCA always recommends taking any necessary precautions.
