Reviving the Springwater Maple Syrup Festival With funding from FedDev Ontario
Aylmer, ON | May 25, 2023 –The Catfish Creek Conservation Authority (CCCA) would like to thank the Government of Canada for supporting the revival of the Springwater Maple Syrup Festival.
For decades, the CCCA has been hosting the Springwater Maple Syrup Festival during the month of March. Visitors learn about how maple syrup is produced and enjoy other special attractions. During the pandemic, the Springwater Maple Syrup Festival unfortunately had to be cancelled. The Springwater Maple Syrup Festival is one of the CCCA’s biggest fundraiser events for the Authority.
In March, Catfish Creek Conservation Authority received a non-repayable contribution of
$131,000 from the Government of Canada through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario) to enhance the Springwater Maple Syrup Festival. The funding was used to modernize the Springwater Maple Syrup Festival with marketing campaigns, new automated gates and electrical services, updates to the Sugar Shanty, and enhanced children’s programming.
“Tourism is vitally important to the vibrancy and economic health of communities across southern Ontario,” said the Honourable Filomena Tassi, Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario. “The Government of Canada’s investment in the Springwater Maple Syrup Festival will help revive an established and well-loved annual event that draws in thousands to enjoy fresh treats and fantastic attractions.”
The funding has ensured the CCCA can welcome visitors back to the Springwater Maple Syrup Festival safely and more efficiently. The 2023 festival saw record breaking attendee numbers and was a great success.
