GIS (Geographic Information Systems) is a digital information tool which utilizes georeferenced data to create maps. Information typically found on maps such as roads, bodies of water, woodlots and land use can each be developed as a separate GIS data ‘layer’. The Conservation Authority uses 1:10,000 scale OBM’s (Ontario Base Maps) to provide complete coverage of the Catfish Creek Watershed area. GIS provides the opportunity to quickly and easily test a variety of scenarios and presents them in a map form to assist in understanding and decision making.
