NOTICE TO SPRINGWATER CONSERVATION AREA SEASONAL CAMPERS
RE: CATFISH CREEK CONSERVATION AUTHORITY AND COVID-19
UPDATE April 16, 2020:
The provincial government has extended the mandatory closure of non-essential businesses until May 12th, 2020. This means that the Springwater Conservation Area will not be opening for seasonal camping on May 8th. If no further extension of the mandatory closure takes place, we may be able to open the campground on Friday, May 15th for the Victoria Day Long Weekend. To compensate for the weekend lost, we will be extending the operating season to Sunday, October 25th.
If the provincial mandatory closure extends past May 12th, rest assured that we will be pro-rating seasonal camping fees accordingly to account for the shortened season.
For those not returning for the 2020 camping season, Winter Storage will be extended at no cost to the camper until the mandatory closure has been lifted. Anyone with questions may contact Dusty at [email protected].
Please remember, as we are currently in a mandatory closure, we will not be able to allow seasonal campers any early access to the campground this year.
UPDATE April 6, 2020:
We are still optimistic that our season dates will not change, but we are at the mercy of the government at the moment. If the dates change, we will be contacting all of our seasonal campers with notification.
Regular Operating Season Dates:
Opening date for Seasonal Campers: May 8th. Gates to open May 1st. Those not returning for the 2020 camping season must remove their trailers by April 30th.
As we are currently in a mandatory closure, we will not be able to allow seasonal campers any early access to the campground this year. For those that are not returning for the 2020 camping season who need to remove their trailer and site contents April 30th, please contact Dusty Underhill at [email protected].
Information about our Trails:
The trails remain open for walk through access, but visitors must practice social/physical distancing (2 meters) while on the trails. If you need to, you can step off the trail but please take care when doing so. Please avoid busy parking areas and congregating in groups larger than 5 (as the Government has banned this).
Thank you and please stay safe!
ORIGINAL March 19, 2020:
After careful consideration and re-evaluation during the quickly evolving circumstances surrounding COVID-19, the Catfish Creek Conservation Authority (CCCA) has closed its Administration Centre (8079 Springwater Road, RR#5 Aylmer, ON) to the general public until further notice. Staff are working remotely at this time and attending to e-mails. You can reach Kelsey at [email protected] and she will assist you as much as possible within the limitations of working remotely.
The Springwater Conservation Area campground and Day-Use Area is still closed for the winter season. Our trail systems do remain open to the public at this time.
We would like to assure our Seasonal Campers that we understand the financial implications that some people are facing with regard to employment. To that end, we are moving the Due Date for Seasonal Camping Fees to June 15th which means there will be no late fees applied at the end of May.
Staff are continuing to monitor the situation, and in consultation with Southwestern Public Health will continue to develop a relevant course of action.
Thank you for your support.
